Charissa Boniface: This Week with Artisans!

I was so excited to see Brandan’s smiling face this Tuesday for the first time since last semester. I loved getting to spend two hours a day with him every Thursday last semester. We played lots of games, went bowling, had a Christmas party, and worked towards his goals through doing things like letter and card writing. It has been so fun getting to know Brandan because of his constant positivity and energy, and I am so excited for this next semester.
This Tuesday he brightened my day with a chocolate rose for Valentine’s day. We then worked on writing a Valentine’s card for his mom. It was fun to work toward his goal of practicing his writing skills while writing and decorating cards. After that we played Kerplunk and Connect 4. It was fun catching up with him, and I love getting to spend time, play games, and do fun activities with him as well as getting to know the other mentees and my fellow Setons better. I am so appreciative of all the people who came to Charity Ball and who have donated to Artisans so that we can continue spending time doing these fun activities with our mentees each week!

As our year begins to wind down as Setons, we are busier than ever with selections! Many of our spring breaks were filled with good food, beautiful views, family and friends and of course reading all of the applications from this years Seton applicants. Immediately returning from break we have already begun the selections process with an incredibly inspiring and dedicated group of 89 freshman girls! With interviews well underway and exciting events coming up this weekend and next we are so excited to get to know the class better. Mady Becker: All Together Through Service

As I went through this week thinking about what I wanted to write for the blog, I immediately became inspired by my mentoring session with Shawnel along with Laura and Clare and their mentees, Andrew and Sam, respectively. Each and every week brings something new with our mentees and I truly am astounded by the amount of love and support we receive from this Artisans community.                                   With that being said, I took a bit of a back seat this week while volunteering to notice some of the little details going on in the background. Annalise Ellefsen: On Leadership!

They told me that being Seton President would be like having another class, and it is, except for it’s the best class ever and has been more beneficial than any of my real classes. I’ve held leadership roles before, but nothing like this. For the most part, Setons in entirely student run. While we have an amazing advisor who is really easy to work with, she steps back and allows us to take charge and lead the way we want to. I have the opportunity to meet with my executive board every Sunday to make sure everyone is on the same page, as well as facilitate weekly meetings with everyone. I’ve realized how many pieces of a puzzle there are to put on event, and how many people need to be involved and communicated to. Being the Seton President I have gained more self-esteem and confidence in my leadership abilities, as well as pride within the Gonzaga community.
